Floral Souls

My 'Floral Souls'  reflect the calm and connection I feel in nature. Like flowers my work has layers of meaning. At its simplest level the shape is a reference to me. It’s my shadow on a sunny day and it represents how I feel when I’m in nature: in a beautiful garden or a quiet forest. That feeling of peacefulness and contemplation. I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by lots of nature up here in the north so there’s inspiration everywhere. At a deeper level the flowers represent us as people and the passing of time. They’re everchanging, impermanent, varied and not all the flowers are perfect. Just like us the flowers will fade over time leaving behind something quietly beautiful.
